（仏）「サロン・ドートンヌ展 2023」（SALON D’AUTOMNE）に絵画が入選しました

フランス・パリ市内にて開催される 「サロン・ドートンヌ展」 （LE SALON D’AUTOMNE 2023）に絵画「新緑の木々と古い電車」が入選しました。昨年度に引き続き、連続での入選となります。

サロン・ドートンヌ展は1903年よりはじまったフランスパリ市内で催される展覧会で、かつてはマチス、ピカソ、セザンヌ、ブラック、藤田嗣治らが活躍したことでも知られています。

「新緑の木々と古い電車」

この絵画は、1930年代～1970年代に日本の愛知県奥三河を走っていた鉄道車両と新緑の木々を描いた作品である。かつて愛知県奥三河には、豊橋鉄道田口線という鉄道路線があった。本長篠駅と三河田口駅を結ぶ約22.6 kｍの路線で、30年以上にわたり地元住民の足としてのほか、木材を運ぶ役割も担っていたと伝えられている。

ところが、林業の衰退、マイカーの普及に加え、台風の被害にも遭ったことから豊橋鉄道田口線は1968年に廃線になった。新緑が美しい季節、私は豊橋鉄道田口線の廃線跡を訪ねて愛知県奥三河に向かった。JR飯田線本長篠駅から大井川に沿う道を歩くこと約４０分。さらに、古い地図を頼りに坂道を上っていくと、山の岩盤を貫きトンネルが口を開けているのを見つけた。

うす暗いトンネルを抜けていくと、その先には新緑の木々に囲まれてホームらしきものがひっそりと残されているのを発見した。それが、かつて存在していた豊橋鉄道田口線の三河大草駅の跡だと分かった。線路は既に撤去されており、ホームの先は鬱蒼とした草木に覆われて行き止まりになっていた。50年以上前、このホームに鉄道車両が発着していたのを思うと感慨深い気持ちになった。

その後、当時の鉄道車両を静態保存する愛知県北設楽町にある施設「道の駅したら」にも訪れた。その上で、豊橋鉄道田口線の三河大草駅に鉄道が発着していた時代の風景を再現したいという思いで、この絵画を制作した。

"FreshGreen Trees and Old Train Car"

This painting features railroad car that ran in Okumikawa, Aichi Prefecture, Japan,from the 1930s to the 1970s, and fresh green trees.There used to be a railroad line in Okumikawa, Aichi Prefecture, called Toyohashi Railway Taguchi Line.It was a 22.6 km railroad line connecting Hon-Nagashino Station and Mikawa-Taguchi Station, and reportedly served as a means of transportation for lumber as well as local residents over a 30-year period.

However,the Toyohashi Railway Taguchi Line was discontinued in 1968 due to decline of forestry industry, popularization of private cars, and typhoon damage.

During the beautiful season with fresh green leaves, I headed to Okumikawa, Aichi Prefecture, to visit abandoned tracks of the Toyohashi Railway Taguchi Line.From Hon-Nagashino Station on the JR Iida Line, I walked along a road next to Oigawa River for about 40 minutes.After walking up a slope by an old map, I found a tunnel opening through the bedrock of mountain.

After passing through the dark tunnel, there was something looked like a platform quietly left behind, surrounded by fresh green trees.This turned out to be site of Mikawa-Okusa Station on the Toyohashi Railway Taguchi Line, which had once existed.The tracks were already removed and the end of platform was a dead end covered with dense grass and trees.I was deeply moved when thinking of the railroad cars arriving and departing on this platform more than 50 years ago.

Then visited " Michi-no-Eki Shitara," a facility in Kitashitara-cho, Aichi Prefecture, which statically preserves railroad car from that era.I made this
painting with a desire to recreate scenery of the era when train used to arrive at and depart from Mikawa-Okusa Station on the Toyohashi Railway Taguchi Line.

今回の「（仏）サロン・ドートンヌ展」 には50年以上前に廃線になった奥三河地域の豊橋鉄道田口線を描いた絵画を出品しました。たくさんの来場者にご鑑賞いただけたほか、奥三河地域の方々からも喜びの声をいただいたこともうれしく、心に残りました。今回の添付画像は、パリの展示会場の様子です（写真提供JNAS様）

絵画を通して、広く知られていない日本の風景やその魅力を海外にもお伝えしていく。微力ながらもそのお手伝いをさせていただくことで、笑顔になる人がひとりでも増えていけばいいなと思いました。
